Kazan 285 is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), characterized by medium maturity and high productivity. The vegetation period lasts 310-330 days; plants are low-growing, 53-70 cm tall, with an intermediate bush type. The ear is cylindrical, white, of medium length and density; the grain is semi-rounded, red, and awned. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 34 to 39 grams, and natural density reaches 800 g/l. The variety belongs to the erythrosum subspecies and possesses excellent baking qualities, making it in demand for the production of high-quality flour. Kazan 285 is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to lodging, which ensures crop stability under various climatic conditions. The variety shows medium resistance to brown rust and powdery mildew, high resistance to loose and dusty bunt, as well as resistance to septoria. It also exhibits drought tolerance and high responsiveness to nitrogen fertilizer application, which allows significantly increasing yield with an optimal agricultural approach. The potential yield of the variety reaches 7.0-7.5 tons per hectare, while the average yield in the Middle Volga region is about 22.7 centners/hectare. The Kazan 285 variety was created by the method of individual-family selection from a hybrid involving the German variety Hadmeslebner 15080, which ensured it a combination of high productivity and resistance to abiotic stresses. Recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Belgorod and Kursk regions, Rostov region, Krasnodar Krai, Stavropol Krai, Karachay-Cherkess and Chechen Republics, as well as the Kalmyk Republic. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, this variety is a reliable choice for farmers seeking to obtain a high and quality wheat harvest.
