Winter hard wheat variety Golden is a high-yielding, versatile variety intended for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones. The vegetation period is 270-285 days. At a seeding rate of 4.5 million seeds per hectare, the variety demonstrates a productivity potential of up to 5.53 tons per hectare, which exceeds the average level by 13%. Plants are medium-height, 105-115 cm tall, with a thousand-grain weight ranging from 43-48 grams. The grain has a round shape, high test weight (826-841 g/l), protein content of 14.7-16.0%, and gluten content of 34.7-38.9%, meeting the requirements of premium hard wheat varieties.
The variety exhibits comprehensive resistance to major diseases, including septoria, various types of rust, brown and stem rust, as well as powdery mildew, ensuring reliable yields. Cold and winter hardiness are rated as below average, but its high drought resistance (7-9 points) allows successful cultivation under water-deficit conditions. The variety shows moderate resistance to lodging and high resistance to grain shattering. A short springing period and moderate photoperiod sensitivity contribute to its adaptability to various climatic conditions.
In addition, the ears of Golden wheat are large in size and bright yellow in color, making them attractive for decorative purposes. Harvested from ecologically clean areas, they do not shatter or over-ripen, allowing their use in creating floral arrangements, bouquets, wall hangings, sachets, topiaries, photo zones, and festive decorations. The ear height reaches 28 cm, awn length is 2-6 cm, and packaged bunches of 10 ears are convenient for decorative applications.
