Gaiok

Wheat of the Gaiok variety is a soft winter wheat Triticum aestivum L., belonging to mid-season varieties with high genetic yield potential. This variety is resistant to lodging and exhibits enhanced frost tolerance, confirmed by a rating of 6.5 points. In field conditions, Gaiok demonstrates high resistance to major diseases, and grain quality meets the requirements for strong wheat. The average plant height reaches about 90 cm, and the seeding rate is 4.5–5.5 million viable seeds per hectare, depending on the preceding crop. Gaiok is widely used as feed wheat in animal husbandry due to its high protein content (11–15%), B and E vitamins, as well as essential amino acids such as lysine, and minerals including phosphorus. These nutritional properties make it a valuable component in compound feed production, ensuring balanced animal nutrition. Grain moisture does not exceed 15%, corresponding to the standards of quality feed wheat. However, this variety is not intended for human consumption. The yield of Gaiok wheat is characterized by stability and high productivity, as confirmed by trials in various regions of Ukraine, where yields vary from 5.88 to 9.61 tons per hectare. Due to its agronomic characteristics and nutritional value, this variety is popular among agricultural producers and is an important element in livestock feed bases.
