Wheat variety Foxx — this is a transgenic elite two-row variety developed by the Canadian company Sertis Holding Group using advanced nanotechnology and DNA cell transformation. This variety is characterized by high yield and excellent grain quality, confirmed by high ratings in variety trials. Foxx is versatile in use and not demanding in cultivation conditions, suitable for sowing after various preceding crops, including oilseed and cereal crops. It can be successfully grown both under conventional and intensive technology, with maximum yield achieved using optimal doses of mineral fertilizers.
The Foxx variety has several unique biological features. It is characterized by rapid growth in the early development stage and good tillering, which contributes to forming more than 20 stems per plant. Wheat is resistant to abiotic stresses, including significant temperature fluctuations in spring, drought, and soil salinity. Thanks to genes introduced from marine algae and other plants, the variety withstands temperatures down to -37 °C even without snow cover, and also summer temperatures up to +60 °C. Foxx exhibits high winter hardiness and resistance to late frosts during stem elongation, making it suitable for cultivation even with delayed sowing.
In addition, Foxx possesses strong immunity to all known fungal diseases and viruses, including powdery mildew, root rot, bacterial diseases, snow mold, various rusts, and fusarium, ensuring grain quality retention even under adverse weather conditions. The ear length of up to 22 cm is characterized by high grain density and large golden-yellow grains with high gluten content up to 38%. The potential productivity of the variety reaches 140 ц/ha, with yields recorded up to 118 ц/ha for winter wheat and 92 ц/ha for spring wheat in Ukraine. Foxx is recommended for cultivation in all agro-climatic zones of Ukraine, especially effective in central, southern, and western regions due to its drought resistance, early maturity, and resistance to lodging.
