Wheat Colomak 5

Field Performance and Reliability

Working with the 'Kolomak 5' winter wheat variety developed by the Poltava State Agrarian Academy provides a clear advantage in terms of predictability. With a growing season of 260–270 days and a winter hardiness rating of 7, this variety is designed for environments where survival and stability are paramount. In practice, the crop emerges consistently after winter, reducing the need for field maintenance or replanting.

Disease Resistance and Farm Management

The primary operational benefit of Kolomak 5 is its genetic resistance to brown rust, septoria, and powdery mildew. From an input perspective, this allows for a reduction in fungicide applications. While other varieties might require emergency sprayings, Kolomak 5 maintains a cleaner canopy, saving on both chemical costs and labor. Its awned structure is standard for combine harvesting, ensuring smooth processing without technical bottlenecks.

Yield and Logistics

With a thousand-kernel weight (TKW) of 40–45 grams, this variety is highly compatible with precision seeding equipment. The uniform grain size allows for accurate calibration of the sowing rate, ensuring even stand density. Capable of yielding 8–9 tons per hectare under intensive management, Kolomak 5 requires well-prepared logistics during harvest. If you are looking for a reliable, high-yield crop that performs consistently without requiring constant intervention, this is a solid choice for any commercial farm.
