Focus on Productive Tillering: What Makes "Chornozerna" Stand Out

In the face of volatile climate conditions, the breeding program of the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the NAS of Ukraine has prioritized tillering capacity. "Chornozerna" is classified as an intensive-type variety, requiring precise mineral nutrition. However, when managed according to the recommended technology, it ensures a high density of crops. A key indicator—4.5–5.0 million productive stems per hectare—allows for stable yields even with moderate grain weight metrics.

A Phytosanitary Shield

The main advantage of "Chornozerna" over many market competitors is its comprehensive resistance to diseases that typically consume up to 20% of wheat yields in Ukraine. The variety demonstrates strong resistance against:

• Fungal infections: powdery mildew and fusarium.
• Foliar pathogens: mycosphaerella leaf spot and brown spot.
• Systemic issues: root rots and rust (including brown rust).

This makes it an optimal choice for farms utilizing intensive farming systems, where fungicide protection is integrated into the workflow, but there is a demand to reduce pesticide loads through the plant's own genetic potential.

Who is this variety for?

"Chornozerna" thrives on the fertile chernozem soils of Ukraine's Forest-Steppe and Steppe zones. It is a precise tool for agronomists aiming for high production volumes who are ready to manage stand density. It does not require excessive sowing rates, as it efficiently utilizes the allotted space. However, it is important to observe optimal sowing windows, as excessive vegetation could lead to lodging if plant growth regulators are not calculated correctly.
