Hazelnut Bagryanii

Bагряний — this is a tall shrub with a dense and broad crown, reaching up to 5 meters in height and width. The leaves are round, dark red throughout the entire vegetation period, covered with fine silky hairs. In spring, before leaf unfolding, yellow catkins up to 6 cm long appear, and flowering occurs in April-May. The fruits are cylindrical nuts fully covered with a red fused shell — the husk. This variety is sun-loving, frost-resistant, and drought-tolerant, capable of growing in partial shade and enduring urban conditions, preferring fertile soils. The genus to which the Bагряний variety belongs is the birch family. It is characterized by early fruiting and high yield. The nuts are large, round, juicy, and sweet-tasting, ripening in early September. Due to its taste qualities, the nut is widely used in cuisine: it is used to make nut paste, flour, and can be roasted, candied, or salted. It is a valuable product for vegetarian cuisine and healthy eating. The plant is recommended for solitary and group plantings in urban landscaping, as well as for creating colorful woody-shrub compositions. Due to its frost resistance and low maintenance requirements, the Bагряний walnut adapts well to various conditions, making it an excellent choice for gardeners and landscape designers seeking to combine decorative appeal with practical utility.
