DWARF 5 – a walnut variety characterized by moderate tree height (up to 1.8 m) and a round crown. The plant grows steadily but conservatively: fruiting begins as early as the third year after planting, with yields reaching about 40.6 centners per hectare. Pollination occurs in the second decade of May; the pollination type is protandrous.
The variety's fruits are of medium size with an oval-round shape; each nut weighs approximately 10.5 g. The shell is light brown, thin (about 1.2 mm), smooth, shiny, and strong, ensuring good kernel separability. Inside lies a white kernel with a dry, dense consistency, described as pleasant and sweet. The kernel yield is about 43% of the total fruit mass.
The variety is versatile in use: nuts are suitable for fresh consumption (tasting score in fresh form – 5 points) and can be used in cooking, confectionery, and the food industry. Fat content in the fruits is high – 71.2%, making them a valuable source of beneficial oils. The nuts are drought-resistant and possess moderate heat tolerance, as well as demonstrating regular annual fruiting.
