The walnut variety "OVEN" is the result of crossing Pelan and Izzyashny, featuring a medium maturation period (second decade of September). It is a medium-sized tree with a round-spherical crown, drought-resistant, resistant to brown spot and frost. It begins bearing fruit in the 4th-5th year after planting, with a yield of 2.2 to 2.5 tons/hectare.
The variety's fruits are characterized by medium size, oblong-oval shape, and uniform texture. The kernel is tasty, non-bitter, oily, with a high fat content – 67.8%. The internal composition is also rich in vitamins: Vitamin C – 4.36 mg/100 g, Vitamin P (Vitamin E) – 48.2 mg/100 g. The shell is thin and almost smooth, which facilitates kernel separation.
The variety is distinguished by enhanced frost hardiness and drought resistance, as well as good resistance to Marsonia and bacterial spot. Thanks to precocity and early maturation (end of September – beginning of October), it is suitable for both personal cultivation and industrial production. The kernel's storage ability of up to 12 months and more makes it convenient for storage.
