Vetch Lila

Optimizing Feed Production: The «Lila» Vetch Advantage

The «Lila» vetch variety, developed by the Bila Tserkva Experimental Station named after O.K. Kolomiyets, is a proven solution for farmers focused on high-protein green fodder and hay production. In modern livestock management, where the cost of feed rations directly dictates profitability, utilizing specialized varieties like «Lila» is a strategic move to optimize operational expenses.

Practical Field Scenarios

Designed specifically for livestock needs, «Lila» is a key component for producing haylage, silage, and high-quality hay. Its biological resilience provides farmers with several operational advantages:

• Building stable protein feed reserves, essential for maintaining dairy yields throughout the winter season.
• Serving as an effective break crop in rotations to improve soil structure and fix atmospheric nitrogen.
• Reducing logistical and production risks during harvest due to the variety's adaptability to local environmental conditions.

Agronomic Profile

The choice to adopt «Lila» is driven by its focused profile as a dedicated forage crop. Farmers favor this variety for its balanced vegetative growth, which streamlines mechanical mowing and subsequent processing. Unlike multipurpose varieties, «Lila» is bred for biomass volume and high amino acid content, making it a priority for livestock-focused operations.

By sourcing seed material from the Bila Tserkva Experimental Station, producers ensure varietal purity—a critical factor for predictable vegetation timelines and efficient harvest scheduling. Achieving the full yield potential of «Lila» requires adherence to standard agricultural practices, with timely harvesting being the primary variable for preserving the optimal balance of fiber and essential nutrients.
