Vegetable Pea Favorite

Cultivation Practice of "Uliublenets"

The "Uliublenets" vegetable pea is a choice for those who prioritize predictable results and ease of handling. From an operator's perspective, this cultivar behaves consistently throughout its 60–65 day vegetative period. For an agronomist, this is a convenient timeframe: clear maturation deadlines allow for precise harvest logistics planning without the risk of crop over-ripening in the field.

Pod Specifications and Yield

The "Uliublenets" pod is a highly functional unit. Its 8–10 cm length and blunt tip shape make it easy to manage during manual harvesting or to minimize damage during mechanical processing. Each pod consistently holds 8–10 peas. This is a critical indicator of marketability: the uniform count per pod ensures consistent output, reducing the time needed for post-harvest sorting.

Agrotechnical Protection

Operating a field of "Uliublenets" does not require extreme expenditures on fungicides. Thanks to the breeding efforts of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of the NAAS, the variety has a proven resistance to Fusarium and Ascochyta blight. In practice, this means savings on chemical inputs: where other varieties might require additional preventative treatments, "Uliublenets" holds its ground independently. Fewer treatments translate directly into a lower cost per unit of produce.

Maintenance Recommendations

As the variety was developed by a team of experts including Antoniv S.F. and Buhaiov V.D., the genetic integrity of the seed stock is maintained at a high level. When working with this cultivar, it is critical to preserve the purity of the planting material to maintain the yield potential of 8–10 peas per pod. With proper agricultural practices, "Uliublenets" demonstrates high uniformity in ripening, which is a key factor in achieving the marketable appearance required by both retail chains and processors.
