The Pegasus hybrid sunflower is a high-yielding variety developed by Serbian breeding, designed for the 'Clearfield' cultivation technology. It is characterized by its adaptability and is suitable for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, particularly showing the best performance in the regions of Nikolaev, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Dnepropetrovsk. The hybrid's vegetative period is up to 112 days, and its potential yield reaches 52 centners per hectare, equivalent to approximately 5.5 tons per hectare. Pegasus has high oil content — from 48% to 50% — making it attractive for oil production.
One of the key features of this hybrid is its high resistance to heat and drought, as well as genetic resistance to several races of downy mildew (5-6 races). This ensures stable yields even under adverse climatic conditions. Additionally, Pegasus demonstrates rapid recovery after treatment with herbicides Evrolight and its analogues, applied at the 2-4 leaf stage at a rate of 1-1.2 liters per hectare. This resistance allows effective weed control without compromising crop productivity.
Thus, the Pegasus hybrid is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality sunflower yields with minimal risk. Its adaptability to various cultivation conditions, high oil content, and resistance to pests and adverse factors make this hybrid advantageous and promising for agricultural production.
