Darnel Kyivskiy

Performance and Maintenance Profile

The 'Kyivskyi' variety, developed by the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agriculture of NAAS', is a reliable cultivar for landscape projects that require a balance between aesthetics and operational ease. Designed for stability, this variety performs consistently under standard management practices.

Operational Requirements

With a medium maintenance requirement, 'Kyivskyi' is well-suited for professional landscape management where consistent quality is a priority.

• Hydration: Requires regular watering during peak summer heat to maintain optimal density and prevent thin patches.
• Mowing Strategy: The variety responds well to routine mowing. Quick recovery rates after cutting make it an efficient choice for large-scale landscaping.
• Nutrient Management: Early-season nitrogen application is recommended to kickstart growth and ensure a lush, vibrant green appearance throughout the season.

Durability and Recovery

The primary advantage of this Ukrainian-bred variety is its resilience to local climatic variations. 'Kyivskyi' exhibits impressive self-repairing capabilities: the active tillering of the plants ensures the turf fills in gaps naturally. For the owner, this means lower costs for overseeding and maintenance. Its dense growth habit acts as a natural barrier to weeds, reducing the need for aggressive herbicide intervention and manual weeding, thereby optimizing operational labor costs over time.
