Darnel Vinnytska

A Reliable Source of Green Mass for Forage Systems

The 'Vinnytska' variety, developed by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, is a valuable perennial crop within the ryegrass category. In modern farming, this variety is chosen as a practical tool for establishing durable pastures and hayfields. The plant's high regenerative capacity allows for multiple cuts per season, providing livestock with nutritious green forage from early spring through late autumn.

Practical Scenarios for On-Farm Application

• Hayfield Management: Due to its perennial life cycle, 'Vinnytska' stands maintain productivity over several years. This reduces the costs associated with annual soil tillage and reseeding, streamlining farm operations.
• Pasture Improvement: With moderate maintenance requirements, this variety is an excellent choice for areas where intensive management is challenging. The crop forms a dense sward that effectively outcompetes weeds.
• Orchard Ground Cover: The variety's high adaptability to Ukrainian climatic conditions makes it suitable for inter-row sowing in orchards, helping to prevent soil erosion and improve the overall structure of the land.

When planning field operations, it is important to note that peak performance is achieved through a standard fertilization regime. 'Vinnytska' responds well to nitrogen applications following each harvest, rapidly recovering its green biomass. As a component in forage seed mixtures, this variety serves as a stable foundation, ensuring consistent yields across a wide range of soil and climatic conditions.
