Tulip Kastrup

The Power of Late-Season Luxury: Kastrup Tulips

In the world of late-flowering double tulips, the 'Kastrup' cultivar stands out not just for its intense red petals, but for its robust architectural integrity. Unlike many double varieties that struggle with heavy, water-logged blooms, 'Kastrup' mimics the structure of a peony while maintaining a structural resilience that keeps it upright even in adverse spring weather.

Built-in Resistance: A Grower’s Advantage

One of the primary challenges for double-flowered tulips is their susceptibility to fungal issues, often exacerbated by the density of the petals. 'Kastrup' effectively mitigates these risks through significant genetic resilience to key pathogens:

• Sclerotinia and Phomopsis: These soil-borne and fungal threats, which often devastate tulip crops, are kept at bay thanks to the cultivar's strong natural resistance.
• Peronospora and Phoma: The plant maintains healthy, clean foliage throughout its life cycle, reducing the need for aggressive fungicide application during the growing season.

This natural defense makes 'Kastrup' an excellent candidate for public landscaping where aesthetics and long-term durability must go hand-in-hand.

Optimal Performance

With its moderate stem height, 'Kastrup' is structurally balanced, avoiding the common pitfalls of lodging in windy or rainy conditions. The deep red coloration is highly light-stable, ensuring that the visual impact remains consistent from the first opening of the bud until the end of the bloom. Whether for professional landscape installation or high-end floral design, 'Kastrup' provides the reliability of a sturdy stem combined with the aesthetic prestige of a late-season double tulip.
