Tulip Royal van der Mark

Elegance in Every Petal: Why Royal Van der Mark Stands Out Among Triumphs

The Royal Van der Mark tulip is a classic representative of the Triumph class, valued by professional florists for its exceptional reliability. Unlike many varieties prone to fading under direct sunlight, this tulip maintains a deep, rich mauve hue until the very end of its flowering cycle.

Key Variety Specifications

• Class: Triumph.
• Bloom Time: Mid-season.
• Height: Medium (excellent structural integrity, rarely requires staking).
• Color: Intense mauve, known for long-lasting color retention.

Strengths and Considerations

The main advantage of Royal Van der Mark is its architectural precision. The flower head is dense and perfectly shaped, making this variety a premium choice for cut flowers: it holds its form during transport and boasts an impressive vase life. The stems provide optimal rigidity, allowing them to withstand spring winds without bending.

However, growers should note that like most mid-season varieties, it is demanding regarding soil drainage. In waterlogged conditions, the bulb is susceptible to fungal issues. Therefore, this tulip requires careful site selection—specifically dry, well-ventilated areas. If you are looking for an ultra-low-maintenance bulb that thrives in damp soil, this is not the right choice. But for professionals who prioritize premium aesthetics for cut flowers and forcing, Royal Van der Mark remains a benchmark choice for sophisticated monochromatic arrangements.
