Tulip Perfectionist

Evolution in the Low-Growing Tulip Segment

The 'Perfectionist' tulip stands as a classic representative of Greigii tulips, a group that has long secured a position as a reliable, low-growing staple in both professional and hobbyist horticulture. The variety is highly regarded for its predictable growth patterns and compact structure, making it an ideal choice for the foreground of flower beds, rock gardens, and container displays.

Agrotechnical Profile and Disease Resistance

The primary advantage of this hybrid is its genetically inherent resistance to several pathogens that often compromise more sensitive varieties. Breeders have prioritized root system and bulb health, ensuring robust protection against:

• Fusarium (basal rot);
• Cladosporium;
• Tobacco mosaic virus.

Consequently, 'Perfectionist' demonstrates consistent survival rates, even in soils with a moderate pathogen load.

Visual Characteristics and Bloom

Its mid-season blooming window allows the variety to blend seamlessly into the spring parade of bulbs, serving as a perfect transition between early and late varieties. Visually, the plant is distinguished by a unique color interplay: deep red tones interweave with subtle lilac shades, creating a rich, iridescent effect on the petals. The low stem height ensures wind resistance, eliminating the need for staking even in exposed planting locations.
