Tulip Ohara

Stability and Color: The Triumph Class Advantage

The Ohara tulip stands out in the competitive Triumph class by prioritizing durability over excessive height. While many larger hybrids struggle with lodging during heavy spring rains, Ohara’s low-stature architecture ensures it remains upright and pristine, making it a superior candidate for front-border plantings, rock gardens, and container displays.

Resilience as a Core Characteristic

What truly sets Ohara apart from its peers is its genetic resilience to soil-borne pathogens. In environments prone to moisture buildup, many tulip varieties succumb to Verticillium or Fusarium wilt. Ohara, however, has demonstrated robust resistance to these fungal diseases, significantly lowering the maintenance burden for both commercial growers and home gardeners.

• Bloom color: A vivid, sun-fast yellow that maintains its brilliance throughout the mid-season.
• Growth habit: Low-growing and compact, requiring no staking or structural support.
• Disease profile: Excellent resistance to common Fusarium and Verticillium wilts.

Who is Ohara for? It is the ideal choice for those who value low-maintenance gardening without sacrificing visual impact. While its shorter stem makes it less suited for traditional tall-vase floristry, it is unparalleled for low-profile landscape designs where wind resistance and disease immunity are paramount. By selecting Ohara, growers can mitigate the risk of bulb loss, ensuring a more consistent and predictable yield in the following seasons.
