Tulip Menton

Focus on Aesthetics and Durability

The 'Manton' tulip is a distinguished member of the Single Late class, valued in both commercial and hobbyist floriculture for its predictability and high visual impact. Whether you are planning indoor forcing or open-field cultivation, this variety serves as a reliable asset thanks to its robust biological defenses.

Agronomy and Plant Protection

The primary challenge in tulip cultivation involves fungal infections that can devastate a plantation before blooming even begins. 'Manton' exhibits remarkable resistance to pathogens that are typically critical for bulbous crops:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora): the variety remains largely unaffected by the humidity fluctuations that usually trigger this disease.
• Phomopsis: the dense tissues of the plant effectively inhibit fungal penetration.
• Phoma: high natural resistance significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications.

These traits streamline maintenance and care. Operators avoid unnecessary expenditure on costly chemicals, while the risk of bulb loss during winter storage is kept to a minimum.

Operational Performance

As a tall-growing variety, 'Manton' is best suited for professional cut flower production and large-scale landscaping. The soft apricot hue of the petals lends a premium appeal to bouquets, and its late-blooming cycle allows producers to extend the sales season well after early-blooming varieties have finished. The plant responds well to standard agricultural practices and does not require complex interventions, making it an efficient choice for both experienced growers and those just starting out.
