Tulip Meteor

A Triumph Class Standard

The 'Meteor' tulip is a cornerstone of the Triumph group, recognized for its consistent performance in both professional greenhouse operations and open-field cultivation. Developed through years of Dutch breeding expertise, this variety has secured its position as a reliable, mid-season performer that hits the market just as demand for high-quality red tulips peaks.

Resistance and Agronomic Profile

The primary advantage of the 'Meteor' is its robust genetic profile, which significantly reduces the need for heavy chemical interventions. This variety has demonstrated strong resistance to several persistent agricultural threats:

• Cladosporium (leaf spot).
• Powdery mildew, which often plagues high-density plantings.
• Cucumber mosaic virus, a significant risk factor for commercial bulb production.

This natural resilience not only ensures a higher yield of marketable bulbs but also optimizes production costs by minimizing the frequency of fungicide applications.

Market Positioning

With its mid-range height, 'Meteor' is engineered to withstand wind and handling, maintaining an upright posture throughout the growth cycle. The signature red color is vibrant and uniform, meeting the high standards required by modern floristry. Its compact, classic goblet-shaped bloom is highly durable, making it an excellent choice for long-distance logistics and retail storage, where flower freshness is paramount.

For large-scale agricultural enterprises, 'Meteor' functions as a staple crop. It offers a predictable bloom schedule and consistent commercial success, solidifying its reputation as a reliable workhorse in the competitive tulip market.
