Tulip Keizerskroon

Focus on Early Forcing and Commercial Production

The 'Keizerskroon' tulip is a distinguished cultivar within the Single Early class, valued by growers for its historical significance and reliable performance. Its iconic appearance—featuring striking red petals edged with a distinct lilac-hued margin—makes it a highly recognizable product for early-season floral markets.

Practical Implementation and Cultivation

For commercial greenhouse operations, 'Keizerskroon' is managed as a key early-forcing variety. Its moderate height allows for efficient harvesting and bouquet assembly without the common issues associated with excessive stem elongation.

• Forcing Strategy: Designed for producers targeting the early spring market; requires precise temperature control during the root development phase to ensure uniform bloom.
• Crop Application: Primarily used for cut flower production and professional container gardening.
• Agronomic Requirements: Thrives in well-drained, nutrient-rich substrates. Proper moisture management is critical to prevent bulb rot and ensure the structural integrity of the mid-height stems.

The variety’s appeal lies in its classic aesthetic, which carries a premium reputation in retail. By focusing on climate-controlled forcing, growers can maximize the yield of this heirloom tulip. Its predictable growth cycle makes it a practical choice for businesses aiming to balance early market entry with high visual appeal.
