Tulip Kiev

Early Blooming and High Resilience

The 'Kiev' tulip, a member of the Greigii group, is a strategic choice for commercial growers focusing on early spring production. Its primary value lies in its high resistance to common bulb diseases, making it a reliable crop for producers looking to optimize their management costs and reduce dependency on intensive fungicide programs.

Key Agronomic Advantages

The variety shows robust resistance to Fusarium, powdery mildew, and root rot. In practical terms, this means fewer losses during the germination and blooming stages, even in climates with high soil moisture. Its mid-height stature provides excellent wind resistance, which is essential for both open-field cultivation and large-scale landscaping.

Operational Applications

• Commercial Cut Flower Production: The vibrant red and yellow petals appeal to early-season demand. The sturdy structure ensures consistent quality during transportation and shelf-life post-harvest.
• Landscape Management: Due to its early blooming period, this tulip is often utilized in municipal landscaping to provide early spring color in high-traffic public spaces where low-maintenance varieties are preferred.
• Crop Rotation: Its early harvest time allows growers to clear fields effectively for summer crops, maximizing the land use coefficient throughout the season.

For growers aiming for the best results, ensuring proper drainage is the only critical requirement. Combined with the natural immunity of the 'Kiev' variety, this creates a high-yield scenario with minimal risk of bulb decay, ensuring a healthy and uniform bloom cycle.
