Tulip Henry Dunant

The Market Position of Henry Dunant

The Triumph tulip ‘Henry Dunant’ is a benchmark cultivar for commercial growers looking for stability. Named after the founder of the Red Cross, this variety has established a reputation for reliability in both professional greenhouse forcing and landscape maintenance, consistently performing in diverse climate conditions.

Resilience and Phytosanitary Profile

What sets ‘Henry Dunant’ apart in the competitive tulip market is its robust resistance profile. For a grower, this translates into fewer interventions and higher harvest yields. The plant is notably resilient against common threats that often compromise greenhouse productivity:

• Fungal Resistance: High tolerance to alternaria, anthracnose, and verticillium wilt.
• Soil and Storage Health: Inherently resistant to fusarium, reducing the rate of bulb loss during storage and forcing.
• Pest Defense: Demonstrates significant resistance to spider mites, simplifying integrated pest management (IPM) protocols.

Horticultural Characteristics

Falling into the mid-season blooming category, ‘Henry Dunant’ features a striking color palette of vivid red with warm orange undertones. The blossoms maintain a classic Triumph goblet shape, supported by a medium-height, sturdy stem that ensures excellent post-harvest vase life. This variety is an ideal choice for producers who prioritize a low-maintenance, high-return crop that delivers uniform quality and aesthetic appeal.
