Tulip Hella Lights

Technical Profile of the Nella Lights Cultivar

Nella Lights is classified as a Single Late tulip, a categorization that dictates not only its growth cycle but also the physiological architecture of the flower. Unlike early-flowering varieties, this hybrid develops a dense, goblet-shaped bud atop a rigid, medium-height stem, which is a critical design feature for resistance against lodging caused by seasonal wind loads.

Phytosanitary Performance

The core engineering advantage of Nella Lights lies in its high breeding-derived resistance to pathogens that typically limit the profitability of commercial bulb production:

• Complex Resistance: Genetic defense mechanisms against Verticillium and Fusarium wilt minimize plant loss in the soil substrate. This allows for a reduction in the expenditure required for fungicidal bulb treatment prior to planting.
• Immune Barrier: The cultivar demonstrates increased resistance to Cladosporium and the Tomato Mosaic Virus (TMV), effectively preventing foliage deformation and the loss of commercial quality in the stems.

Agronomic Blooming Metrics

The vibrant yellow pigmentation of the petals is driven by a high concentration of flavonoids, ensuring color intensity even under high solar radiation towards the end of the season. As a typical “late” variety, Nella Lights effectively extends the product marketing window, filling the niche left as the primary wave of early tulips exits the market. The stable height of the stems simplifies mechanized harvesting and packaging, reducing labor costs throughout the logistics chain.
