Tulip Golden Purissima

A Sunny Accent for the Early Garden

Golden Purissima is a standout member of the Fosteriana tulip class, prized by landscape designers and gardeners for its reliability and predictability. Unlike many early-blooming varieties prone to lodging, this tulip features a strong, sturdy stem and a perfectly balanced bud structure.

Why Choose This Variety?

• Striking Shape: The elongated, goblet-shaped bud, accented by a subtle creamy hue at the base of the petals, offers an elegance rarely seen in early spring varieties.
• Adaptability: Carrying the genetic legacy of the wild Tulipa fosteriana, this variety thrives despite the unpredictable nature of early spring. It withstands sudden night frosts and humidity fluctuations that often damage more delicate breeds.
• Stability: A major advantage is that this tulip does not require annual lifting. It propagates well and forms consistent, healthy clumps, making it a favorite for permanent perennial borders.

Pros and Cons

The greatest strength of Golden Purissima is its pure, deep yellow color, which illuminates the garden the moment the snow melts. It pairs beautifully with early blue muscari or white daffodils. However, it is important to note that like all Fosteriana tulips, this variety requires full sun. In deep shade, the stem may become leggy and lose its characteristic firmness.

This tulip is the optimal choice for those seeking high-impact results with minimal maintenance. It is a perfect solution for creating vibrant color blocks in lawns or as a primary feature in the foreground of mixed borders.
