Tulip Gordon Cooper

The Darwin Hybrid Standard

Gordon Cooper stands as a benchmark in the Darwin Hybrid class, representing a generation of bulbs developed for both aesthetic impact and robust health. Its reputation among growers is built on its ability to withstand the stresses of open-field cultivation, making it a staple for both landscape professionals and commercial flower producers.

Agronomic Resilience

The standout feature of this hybrid is its genetic resistance to common pathogens that typically compromise bulb health. Gordon Cooper is recognized for its durability against:

• Soil-borne diseases: High levels of resistance to both Fusarium and Verticillium wilt.
• Foliar and systemic pathogens: Exceptional performance in trials regarding resistance to Cladosporium and Tomato mosaic virus.

This biological fortitude allows the plant to channel its energy into developing its signature large, vivid red flowers rather than fighting off common infections.

Market Positioning and Application

As a mid-season bloomer, Gordon Cooper bridges the gap between early-spring bulbs and late-season varieties. Its tall, architectural stems make it ideal for mass planting, where its brilliant red hue creates a commanding presence. Unlike many contemporary varieties that prioritize novelty over longevity, Gordon Cooper is chosen for its reliability—it is a dependable investment for professional displays and high-quality floral production.
