Hippeastrum Slavyanka

A Georgian breeding triumph: Hippeastrum 'Slavyanka'

In the decorative bulbous plant market, the 'Slavyanka' variety occupies a distinct niche, representing the culmination of long-term work by the Federal Research Center of the Subtropical Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Developed in Georgia, this hybrid embodies resistance to subtropical climates and aesthetic expression, making it sought after by both amateur collectors and professional florists.

Morphology and flowering parameters

'Slavyanka' features balanced dimensions that are ideal for both pot culture and seasonal outdoor flowerbeds:

• The peduncle height varies from 50 to 60 cm, ensuring excellent visibility of the plant in any landscape.
• Large buds reach 15–18 cm in diameter, showcasing spectacular blooms.
• Flowering consistency is ensured by the formation of 3–4 full-fledged flowers on a single peduncle.

The reputation of this variety is built on reliability: the hybrid shows excellent performance when grown in open ground during the summer, a trait often lacking in more delicate imported varieties. 'Slavyanka' successfully adapts to conditions requiring stress resistance while maintaining the ornamental quality of its inflorescences.

Application and cultivation

Due to its breeding origin, the variety displays high adaptability. In open ground conditions, the plant demonstrates vigorous growth, forming an architecturally balanced bush. In indoor landscaping, 'Slavyanka' is valued for the predictability of its vegetative cycles and color intensity. This is the choice for those seeking time-tested, science-backed planting material that combines professional selection with ease of maintenance.
