Tulip Eire

Resilience as a Business Asset

For professional growers and landscape architects, the choice of the 'Eire' tulip is primarily driven by its sanitary reliability. In high-moisture soil conditions, where many double-flowered varieties fall victim to fungal infections, this cultivar displays remarkable resistance to root rot and Fusarium. This is a critical factor for reducing fungicide application costs and minimizing cull rates during the production cycle.

Practical Cultivation and Use

The low-growing habit and late blooming period make 'Eire' an essential tool for specific agricultural and design scenarios:

• Landscape Design: Due to its compact height, the plants do not require staking and are resistant to wind damage, which is vital for exposed urban spaces.
• Container Growing: The cultivar is exceptionally well-suited for pots and window boxes, where high planting density makes disease resistance paramount.
• Border Formations: The intense red color and double-flower structure allow for the creation of dense, vivid color blocks that last longer than mid-season varieties.

Field experience indicates that 'Eire' performs best in well-drained soils. Despite its genetic resistance to pathogens, maintaining an optimal water balance remains the key to preserving the structural integrity of its large, heavy blooms. For commercial operations, this hybrid is recommended for creating stable, long-lasting red accents in public or private gardens where minimal maintenance is required without compromising the health of the bulb stocks.
