Tulip Viking

A Resilient Choice for Early Spring

The 'Viking' tulip stands out as a reliable choice for gardeners who prioritize durability and consistent performance. Belonging to the early double tulip class, this variety defies the common perception that early spring blooms are fragile. Its primary advantage lies in its robust genetic resistance to common bulb pathogens, including Fusarium, basal rot, and smut.

Key Advantages of 'Viking'

• Superior Disease Resistance: Its natural immunity to fungal rots makes it significantly tougher than many sensitive modern hybrids.
• Striking Visuals: The deep, rich red hue of its double petals creates a dramatic contrast against the emerging green of early spring.
• Compact Stature: Its low-growing habit ensures the stems remain upright, resisting lodging even in strong spring winds.

While many hybrid tulips require precise soil moisture control to prevent root rot, 'Viking' is remarkably forgiving, making it an excellent candidate for both field cultivation and early forcing. It maintains its shape perfectly, without the heavy, sagging heads often seen in other double varieties. For those working in regions with unpredictable spring weather, 'Viking' provides the stability needed to ensure a vibrant, long-lasting red carpet in the garden, maintaining its ornamental appeal throughout the blooming cycle.
