Tulip El Cid

'El Cid': The Triumph Tulip for Early Spring Color

The 'El Cid' tulip is a standout representative of the Triumph class, favored for its robust build and eye-catching bicolor petals. Combining bold red tones with a warm yellow base, this variety creates a vibrant 'flame' effect that makes it a focal point in any early-season garden.

Why 'El Cid' stands out

• Early Bloomers: As an early-flowering variety, it brings color to the landscape long before many other perennials, signaling the start of the spring season.
• Disease Resilience: Breeders have focused on high resistance to common bulb afflictions. 'El Cid' shows excellent tolerance against Peronospora, Phomopsis, Phoma, and sunflower rust, ensuring healthier crops with less intensive fungicide management.
• Sturdy Growth: With an average height that balances elegance and resilience, these tulips hold up well against unpredictable spring winds, maintaining their posture without the need for staking.

Practical Insights: While the variety is genetically resilient to several pathogens, it is not immune to poor drainage. To ensure 'El Cid' thrives, place it in soil that allows moisture to move away from the bulbs. Its strong stem and distinct coloration make it an ideal choice for mass planting or as a centerpiece in borders.

This cultivar is perfectly suited for gardeners who value reliability and low maintenance without compromising on the visual impact of their spring displays.
