Tulip Elegant Lady

Focusing on Aesthetics and Field Resilience

Working with 'Elegant Lady' is a strategic choice for both forcing operations and landscaping. As a lily-flowered tulip, this variety requires precise scheduling due to its late blooming cycle. The tall stems necessitate careful site selection: protection from strong winds is critical to preserve the integrity of its pointed, elegant petals.

Agronomy and Crop Protection

The primary advantage of 'Elegant Lady' is its inherent resistance to major pathogens. In high-humidity conditions, the variety demonstrates excellent tolerance against:

• Anthracnose;
• Peronosporosis;
• Powdery mildew.

This significantly reduces your reliance on crop protection chemicals. While you will save on fungicide applications, do not overlook root rot prevention during soil preparation. The variety demands good drainage; in heavy clay soils, bulbs can be sensitive, making the addition of sand to the planting furrow a standard procedure to improve establishment rates.

Visual Control and Harvesting

The color palette of 'Elegant Lady' offers a striking contrast of yellow and red, reaching peak impact during full bloom. Thanks to its characteristic goblet shape with flared petals, the flower maintains a high-end look even after transport. When harvesting, be mindful of the stem length: as a tall variety, it requires professional-grade tools to ensure a clean cut, preventing injury to the bulb and allowing it to mature properly for the next growth cycle.
