Tulip Diana Ross

Eccentric Exoticism in Your Garden

The 'Diana Ross' tulip stands out among parrot cultivars not only for its lilac hue but also for its phenomenal resistance—a rare trait in this class. While most parrot tulips demand delicate care and are frequently susceptible to fungal infections, this variety demonstrates enviable immunity to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt, as well as Cladosporium and Tomato Mosaic Virus. This makes it a practical choice for those seeking high aesthetics without the need for weekly fungicide treatments.

Blooming Characteristics

A medium-height variety, the 'Diana Ross' blooms mid-season. Its petals feature the signature jagged edges and whimsical curls of the parrot type, resembling the plumage of exotic birds. The lilac shade maintains its depth throughout the entire blooming period, a rarity for such varieties, which are often prone to rapid fading under direct sunlight.

Who is this variety for?

• Professional Florists: High disease resistance significantly reduces risks when grown for commercial cut flower production.
• Home Gardeners: This variety is forgiving of minor agrotechnical errors that would otherwise be fatal to more temperamental parrot tulips.
• Collectors: The unusual bud shape makes it a striking focal point for grouped plantings or as a centerpiece in front of mixed borders.

Despite its hardiness, 'Diana Ross' requires standard proper drainage. Otherwise, it is a reliable choice for climatic zones with moderate to humid summers, where other parrot tulips might succumb to soil-borne pathogens.
