Tulip Cool Crystal

Operational reliability of Cool Crystal

Cool Crystal is classified as a "special" tulip variety that offers excellent predictability for commercial greenhouse operators. Its mid-season flowering cycle allows for efficient labor management, ensuring a smooth harvesting process without overwhelming the storage facilities.

Phytosanitary performance

The primary advantage for any grower is the variety's robust disease profile. Using Cool Crystal significantly reduces the need for constant chemical intervention due to its natural resistance to common pathogens:

• High tolerance to Fusarium wilt, securing the crop even in long-term production soil.
• Resistance to Verticillium wilt, minimizing the risk of crop loss during the growth phase.
• Genetic immunity to tomato mosaic virus and Cladosporium, ensuring that both leaves and petals remain pristine until the point of sale.

Cultivation and handling

The plant height is moderate, which is ideal for standard bench operations and manual or semi-automated harvesting. The pink petals feature stable pigmentation, meaning they do not fade during transit and maintain excellent turgor pressure. When managing these tulips, maintaining optimal spacing is crucial to ensure airflow between stems, which further enhances the plant's built-in defenses against humidity-related issues. This is a variety designed for consistent output and durability in the supply chain.
