Tulip Bolivia

Genetic Resilience and Disease Resistance

The ‘Bolivia’ tulip (Tulipa Triumph ‘Bolivia’) belongs to the Triumph class, widely recognized in commercial floriculture for its robustness and physiological stability. The primary technical advantage of this variety is its inherent genetic resistance to a spectrum of soil-borne and systemic pathogens, which is essential for consistent yield.

‘Bolivia’ demonstrates significant tolerance to critical agricultural threats:

• Fusarium and Verticillium wilt: The variety features an optimized vascular system that prevents fungal colonization of the bulb, drastically reducing plant loss during the growth cycle.
• Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV): Its high barrier against viral penetration ensures phenotypic purity over multiple vegetative seasons.
• Cladosporium: The dense cuticle and superior moisture management prevent the development of necrotic lesions on leaves and petals.

Morphology and Growth Engineering

As a mid-season flowering variety, ‘Bolivia’ offers a predictable performance profile for both indoor forcing and open-field cultivation. The stems reach a moderate height and possess high structural integrity, ensuring they remain upright even under the weight of large, well-developed blooms.

The color palette combines deep red and lilac tones. The pigments are noted for their high photostability; the concentration of anthocyanins and carotenoids in the petal epidermis provides excellent resistance to UV degradation, maintaining color intensity throughout the entire flowering duration. This technical durability makes ‘Bolivia’ a high-value asset for producers looking for long-lasting vase life and reliable post-harvest performance.
