Tulip Bordeaux

Technical Profile of the 'Bordeaux' Tulip

As a representative of the Single Late tulip class, the 'Bordeaux' cultivar is a biologically robust system designed for an extended growth cycle. Given its height and late-blooming characteristics, site selection is critical; protection from high winds is essential to maintain the structural integrity of the long stems throughout the season.

Biological Resistance and Phytosanitary Profile

The core advantage of this hybrid is its genetically programmed resilience against major pathogens that typically compromise bulb crop yields in high-humidity or fluctuating temperature environments:

• Fusarium and Verticillium: The root system possesses advanced immunity to fungal infections, significantly reducing the risk of bulb decay in unfavorable soil conditions.
• Anthracnose and Brown Spot: The foliage and petals exhibit high resistance to fungal leaf spots, maintaining ornamental quality well into the end of the flowering phase.

The practical implication of this resistance is a drastic reduction in the need for fungicide applications. 'Bordeaux' maintains stability in conditions where other varieties would require intensive chemical intervention.

Agrotechnical Recommendations

Visually, the cultivar is distinguished by a deep red pigment that remains vibrant even under intense solar radiation. To achieve maximum height, it is recommended to cultivate the variety in well-drained, nutrient-rich substrates. The tall stems require a stable soil profile to facilitate optimal nutrient uptake during the budding stage. This cultivar is optimized both for professional cut-flower production and for creating resilient, high-impact landscape arrangements.
