Tulip Black Jewel

Elegance in Every Petal

The 'Black Jewel' tulip is a standout member of the fringed class, distinguished by its deep, almost mystical lilac palette. Its signature feature is the contrasting, needle-like fringe that borders the dense, satin-textured petals, giving the appearance of crystallized edges.

Why choose this variety?

• Visual Statement: Unlike classic smooth-petaled tulips, this hybrid possesses a unique 'metallic' sheen, making it a favorite for high-end floral arrangements and professional garden designs.
• Architectural Balance: Its medium stem height provides excellent resistance to lodging, which is a critical trait when growing in open-ground conditions prone to spring winds.
• Bloom Timing: The mid-season blooming window allows it to act as a perfect bridge between early-spring and late-season bulbs, extending the garden's visual appeal.

Pros and Cons

The strength of 'Black Jewel' lies in its structural durability—the petals maintain their shape well even through temperature fluctuations. However, like most fringed varieties, 'Black Jewel' requires well-drained soil; excessive spring moisture can pose a risk to bulb health. This variety is an optimal choice for collectors of exotic forms and landscape designers aiming to create an atmosphere of dramatic, premium refinement in their projects.
