Tulip Blenda

Technical Profile of the 'Blenda' Tulip

The 'Triumph' class represents a sophisticated approach to tulip breeding, prioritizing stem rigidity and cup geometry. 'Blenda' adheres strictly to these standards, integrating robust genetic resilience with precise aesthetic characteristics.

Biological Markers and Protection

The primary technical feature of this variety is its elevated level of tolerance to a wide spectrum of pathogens. Breeding efforts were focused on minimizing risks associated with:

• Peronospora (downy mildew), which is critical in high-moisture soil environments.
• Phomopsis and Phoma, which threaten the root system and bulb tissue integrity.
• Rust, a common cause of premature defoliation.

These biological parameters allow for a significant reduction in fungicidal application rates, which is essential for maximizing the economic viability of commercial production.

Morphology and Flowering Schedule

‘Blenda’ is classified as a mid-season flowering tulip. The average stem height provides excellent resistance to lodging, ensuring structural integrity even under adverse weather conditions. The petal coloration features a gradient shift from pure white to soft pink. This pigmentation configuration maintains the decorative appeal of the bloom throughout the entire flowering period, as the petal tissue exhibits high density and resistance to sun-bleaching.
