Tulip Arie Hoek

Classic performance: why Arie Hoek remains a gardener’s staple

The Arie Hoek tulip belongs to the Triumph class, a group prized for combining a precise, goblet-like bloom shape with robust performance. Unlike many decorative hybrids that require greenhouse protection, this cultivar is remarkably stable in open-field cultivation. Its vibrant red petals are highly light-fast, resisting fading even in full sun, making it a reliable favorite for landscape professionals and cut-flower producers alike.

The plant’s health as a competitive advantage

The primary argument for choosing Arie Hoek is its inherent resilience. While many tulips are highly susceptible to fungal infections in damp conditions, Arie Hoek shows notable resistance to:

• Botrytis (Gray Mold) — keeping the blooms intact even during wet spring spells.
• Powdery Mildew — the foliage remains lush and attractive throughout the entire growth cycle.
• Root Rot — the cultivar adapts well to varying soil conditions, significantly lowering the risk of bulb loss.

This durability makes it an optimal choice for regions with erratic weather. Its mid-season bloom time serves as a perfect bridge, closing the gap between early botanical tulips and late-blooming double varieties.

Who is this cultivar for?

Arie Hoek is the «workhorse» of the floristry trade. Its mid-range stem height ensures excellent transportability, while the blooms exhibit superior vase life, lasting up to two weeks. If you require a variety that does not necessitate daily monitoring for fungal outbreaks and consistently produces uniform, high-quality flower heads, this cultivar will provide a strong return on your investment.

Regarding aesthetics: this is a strictly classical tulip, lacking the elaborate fringes or ruffled edges seen in more exotic groups. However, this minimalist elegance is exactly what makes it timeless. It is the perfect choice for those who prioritize reliability and clean, bold color over fleeting trends.
