Tulip Kunie

Why «Kunie» is a smart choice for professional growers

The 'Triumph' class is the industry standard for commercial tulip forcing, and 'Kunie' stands out due to its remarkable stress tolerance. Unlike many other red cultivars that require intensive care, this variety boasts a robust natural defense mechanism. Its primary advantage is its comprehensive resistance profile, which helps keep the foliage pristine throughout the entire growing cycle, effectively countering downy mildew, olive spot, and powdery mildew.

Agronomic performance

• Disease resistance: The genetic resilience to cucumber mosaic virus and other common pathogens significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide application, lowering production costs.
• Growth habits: Its medium height and sturdy stem structure make it ideal for standard forcing trays and simplifies logistical handling.
• Market appeal: The deep red pigmentation of the petals is highly saturated, ensuring excellent shelf life and aesthetic appeal for the retail market.

Is it the right choice for your operation?

If your business strategy relies on predictable output, 'Kunie' is a solid performer. Its mid-season blooming window integrates seamlessly into most production schedules. While it is highly resistant, it is crucial to remember that good air circulation remains vital to prevent humidity-related issues. This variety is perfect for growers who prioritize consistency, high-quality blooms, and a reliable harvest without the need for constant crisis management due to disease outbreaks.
