Tulip Apeldoorn

Operational Reliability in Field Conditions

For large-scale producers, Apeldoorn remains the industry standard for Darwin hybrid tulips. Its operational value lies in its predictable growth cycle and structural integrity. The tall stem (reaching 60–70 cm) provides excellent rigidity, which minimizes lodging issues even under adverse weather conditions, ensuring high-quality output for commercial cutting.

Disease Resistance and Maintenance

The primary economic advantage of this variety is its inherent resistance to Fusarium. This reduces the need for aggressive fungicide applications and minimizes crop losses during the storage and planting phases. For an agronomist, this translates into lower maintenance costs and higher predictability of bulb health compared to more sensitive varieties. It is a forgiving crop that performs consistently across various soil types, provided standard drainage is maintained.

Harvest Logistics

As a mid-season bloomer, Apeldoorn offers a streamlined harvest window. The blooms open uniformly, which is a major benefit when planning labor logistics for large-scale operations. The robust nature of the plant ensures that the stems hold up well during transport, keeping post-harvest waste to a minimum.
