Tulip Antwerp

Technical Profile of the Antwerp Hybrid

The 'Antwerp' tulip belongs to the Triumph class, which dictates its biological architecture. Breeding for this type is based on crossing simple early tulips with Darwin hybrids, successfully combining weather resistance with precise floral geometry.

Phytosanitary Properties

The key advantage of this hybrid is its resistance to a complex of fungal diseases. Agronomic stability includes:

• Alternaria: The dense epidermal structure minimizes mycelial penetration.
• Sclerotinia: Physiological barriers prevent the basal plate and root system from infection during periods of high humidity.
• Downy Mildew and Phoma: Systemic resistance reduces the frequency of fungicide applications required during the growing season.

This makes the variety suitable for commercial cultivation in temperate climates with a high infectious pressure.

Morphological Indicators and Development

As a representative of the mid-season flowering group, Antwerp demonstrates balanced growth dynamics. The plant features a high growth point, forming a robust flower stalk that remains resistant to lodging even under heavy wind conditions. The intense pink petals maintain density during transport and extended storage, which is critical for cut-flower production. The stability of the habit allows for the use of mechanized planting and harvesting methods.
