Apeldoorn Elite

Tulip Apeldoorn's Elite is a representative of the Darwin Hybrid class, developed by Dutch breeders in 1968. This variety features large, cup-shaped flowers with a bicolor pattern: a red center smoothly transitions into a yellow edge along the petal margins. The plant reaches a height of 50-60 cm, and the bud size varies from 8 to 12 cm in height and 5-6 cm in diameter. Flowering begins in April and lasts for a considerable duration, making this variety especially attractive for bedding and cut flower arrangements.

Apeldoorn's Elite prefers sunny or partially shaded locations, requiring moderate watering without over-saturation or water stagnation. Bulbs are planted in autumn, from October to November, at a depth of 3 to 10 cm with spacing between plants of 10-15 cm. For successful planting, bulb treatment with fungicides or manganese solution is recommended, along with calcium nitrate fertilization during the initial sprouting period. This variety is sun-loving and well-tolerates frost, making it resistant to adverse weather conditions.

Tulip Apeldoorn's Elite is suitable for cultivation in open ground and for forcing in substrate, but not recommended for water forcing. It is not particular about soil type, but excessive moisture should be avoided. Due to its decorative appeal, frost resistance, and ease of care, this variety is an excellent choice for gardeners wishing to adorn their plots with bright and striking blooms.
