Polissky 7 is a winter triticale variety recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine. It was registered in 2002 and developed by the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agriculture of NAAN Ukraine". This variety is characterized by high cold resistance and drought tolerance, exceeding average indicators, as well as increased resistance to lodging, shattering, and diseases. The vegetation period lasts 307-310 days, ensuring optimal conditions for grain formation.
The Polissky 7 plant has a medium plant type, with a stem height of 110-125 cm, and the stem parenchyma is not filled. The spike is awned, white, and spindle-shaped, up to 13 cm long, with 26-29 spikelets. The grain is large, elongated, pale pink, closer to wheat type, with a 1000-grain weight of 48-51 g. The yield of this variety reaches 7.9 t/ha. Particularly effective on typical Polissian soils, which are poorly suitable for winter wheat cultivation, where, under appropriate agronomic practices, it significantly exceeds wheat in grain yield.
Polissky 7 has good weed competitiveness, allowing for reduced herbicide applications or half the recommended herbicide rates. To prevent damage from snow mold, seed treatment is recommended. Other leaf, spike, and root diseases practically do not affect this variety, so additional protection is not required. Triticale is a versatile crop, used for animal and poultry feed, as well as in baking, confectionery, and distilling industries, providing high-quality feed and increased productivity in livestock farming.
