Triticale Petrol

Petrol: Advanced Winter Triticale from the NAAS Institute of Agriculture

The Petrol winter triticale, developed by the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS”, represents a strategic asset for Ukrainian producers focused on stable yields and reduced production risks. As a variety designed for the local climate, it has earned a reputation for reliability in fields where fungal pressure often limits the performance of other cereal crops.

Biological Robustness and Disease Resistance

The primary appeal of the Petrol variety is its exceptional resistance profile, which effectively serves as a built-in defense system. For the modern farmer, this means fewer fungicide applications and more consistent harvest quality. The variety shows strong genetic defense against:

• Key Foliar Diseases: Petrol exhibits robust resistance to wheat brown rust and septoria, ensuring the leaf apparatus remains functional throughout the grain-filling period.
• Broad-Spectrum Protection: The variety also holds strong against mycosphaerella spot, general plant rust, powdery mildew, and brown spot, preventing crop losses in high-humidity or high-pressure environments.

Market Positioning and Application

Petrol is positioned as a high-performance winter triticale for those who prioritize economic efficiency. Its adaptability to diverse soil conditions across Ukraine makes it a flexible choice for various farming systems. By reducing the reliance on chemical protective agents, this variety offers a cost-effective solution for livestock feed production and industrial use. Choosing Petrol means investing in a variety that has been scientifically calibrated to withstand the complex phytosanitary challenges of Ukrainian fields.
