Petrol

Petrol is a winter cereal crop with wheat-type grain, developed by scientists of the Institute of Agronomy of NAAN. This variety is distinguished by high starch content in the grain — up to 69.2%, making it especially valuable for bioethanol production. The grain is large, light-brown, with a 1000-grain weight of about 49.2 grams, containing 14.4% gluten and 8.6% protein, ensuring good processing characteristics.

Petrol is characterized by moderate cold and drought resistance, allowing successful cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polissia regions of Ukraine. The vegetation period of the variety is approximately 300 days, and heading occurs at medium time. The stem is slender, straw-yellow, and sufficiently strong, contributing to resistance against lodging. The variety exhibits resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew, brown rust, and septoria, reducing the need for frequent fungicide applications.

The yield of the Petrol variety reaches 7.5 tons per hectare, making it attractive for agricultural production. Thanks to its qualities and adaptation to regional climatic conditions, this triticale is widely used in the agricultural sector for growing cereal crops aimed at obtaining high-quality raw material for the food industry and bioenergy.
