Nikanor is a winter triticale variety developed by the Institute of Plant Growing named after V.Ya. Yur’ev of NAAN and registered in 2016. This variety is characterized by a medium-length vegetation period of 278–288 days and a medium height type with plant heights ranging from 110 to 140 cm. The stem is strong and resistant to lodging, ensuring reliable crop performance during cultivation. Nikanor exhibits high winter hardiness (7.5 points) and good resistance to drought, shattering, and diseases, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia. This triticale variety has high baking qualities. The grain contains 13.5–14.9% protein and 24–28% raw gluten, ensuring high-quality flour. The gluten deformation index (IDK) is 50 units, and the flour strength is 220–230 units of activity. Bread volume without improvers reaches 550–650 ml, and the overall baking quality score of the variety is 9 points. The potential grain yield may reach 10.0 t/ha, making Nikanor a high-yielding variety suitable for intensive agriculture. Nikanor is not demanding regarding sowing dates and is recommended for planting on previously cultivated fields, as well as after predecessors such as silage corn, sunflower, and perennial grasses. The seeding rate is 4.0–6.0 million viable seeds per hectare, depending on sowing dates and predecessors. Due to its agronomic characteristics and high-quality grain, this triticale variety is a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality harvest across various regions of Ukraine.
