Tomato WATERFALL

Growth Physiology: Indeterminate Architecture

The «Vodopad» tomato, developed by Agrofirma Aelita, is an indeterminate variety, dictating specific management practices. The plant's unlimited stem growth necessitates strict vertical trellising and lateral pruning. For the agronomist, this structure allows for systematic training (typically 1–2 stems), ensuring optimal airflow and light penetration across all fruit clusters, which is vital for uniform maturation.

Fruit Specification and Development

With a maturation period of 120–130 days, this variety is classified as mid-to-late season. The eggs-shaped fruits, typically weighing between 20–40 grams, feature a distinctive yellow hue, indicating high carotenoid content. From a technical standpoint, the skin integrity is a key asset; it exhibits high resistance to cracking under fluctuating humidity levels, ensuring superior fruit quality and post-harvest shelf life.

Selection and Genetic Foundation

This variety is the outcome of specialized breeding led by Vladimir Kachaynik, Mikhail Gulkin, and Mubariz Mamedov. The engineering approach to this selection process ensures high uniformity of fruits within each cluster. This consistency in morphological traits provides stable yields, provided that standard agronomic practices are maintained throughout the cultivation cycle.
