Common Thyme – a perennial aromatic plant growing up to 30–40 cm high, forming a compact bush with delicate, slightly hairy branches and opposite leaves several centimeters long. The leaves contain a large amount of aromatic oil, flavonoids, acids, and other beneficial substances that can replace many medicinal preparations.
The plant prefers sunny or slightly shaded areas with well-drained soil. Watering should be moderate but more frequent during the flowering period. Thyme is easy to grow year-round in a protected environment and can be used as a seasoning for meat, fish, and vegetable dishes, as well as for preparing aromatic tea.
Thyme is an excellent nectar-producing plant with a long flowering period lasting throughout the summer. Shoots can be harvested 2–3 times a year, stimulating the plant for more intense growth and flowering. Due to its frost resistance and ability to grow on almost any soil, thyme fits well both in open and closed gardens.
