Oregano URUSVATI

Reliable oregano production with Crimean breeding

Working with the 'Urusvati' oregano variety, developed by the Crimean Research Institute of Agriculture, operators appreciate its predictability in field conditions. The variety is specifically adapted to regional climatic challenges, showing high resilience during drought and temperature fluctuations. From an operational standpoint, the crop is low-maintenance, retaining its vitality over multiple seasons without a drop in raw material quality.

Maintenance and Harvesting

The 'Urusvati' variety is highly valued for its technical characteristics. Due to the high concentration of essential oils in this variety of Origanum vulgare, it is a preferred source for pharmaceutical and food production. Key operational highlights include:

• Vegetative Stability: The plant develops a dense canopy, which simplifies mechanized harvesting.
• Versatility: The raw material is suitable for both herbal tea blends and industrial oil distillation.
• Efficiency: When harvested at the peak of flowering, the content of active components is at its maximum, and the drying process requires no specialized high-cost equipment.

Field maintenance is limited to standard practices: weed control during the establishment phase and timely mowing. Because of the variety's innate hardiness, input costs for agrochemicals are significantly lower compared to imported hybrids. This efficiency allows for precise logistics planning and predictable market supply.
