Tagetes Diana

Practical Guide to Cultivating Tagetes 'Diana'

For landscapers and garden owners, the 'Diana' variety has proven to be a reliable asset in flower bed design. Developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production, this Tagetes cultivar is engineered to provide dense, vibrant color accents with minimal maintenance requirements.

Field Performance and Characteristics

Reaching a height of 30–50 cm, 'Diana' fits perfectly into the foreground or middle layer of garden compositions. Operators note its structural integrity: the plant maintains a compact, upright shape without splitting, even after heavy rainfall. The bright orange blooms, ranging from 6–8 cm in diameter, maintain their visual density and saturation throughout the growing season.

Maintenance and Operational Requirements

• Establishment: The variety shows excellent survival rates when transplanted as seedlings. The root system is robust enough to adapt quickly to new soil conditions.
• Hydration: While the plant is drought-tolerant, consistent watering during hot spells is crucial to maintain the 6–8 cm bloom size. Ensure adequate drainage, as waterlogging can compromise the root system.
• Upkeep: 'Diana' requires little technical intervention. Deadheading spent blossoms is the primary task, which significantly extends the flowering period and promotes the production of new buds.

From an agronomic perspective, this is a low-maintenance, high-yield variety that compensates for rookie errors with its vigor, provided the basic sunlight and drainage requirements are met.
