Tagetes Kanareyka

Genetic Potential of Tagetes 'Kanareyka'

The breeding program of the 'Kapris' farm, led by Vyacheslav Vasilyevich Shepelev, focuses on developing stable varietal forms specifically adapted to regional environmental conditions. The 'Kanareyka' variety is a specialized Tagetes (marigold) cultivar engineered to produce a uniform floral display with a precise, consistent color profile.

Technical Profile and Morphology

The primary selection criterion for this variety is chromatic purity. Unlike variegated or multi-colored hybrids, 'Kanareyka' exhibits a stable, deep-yellow petal hue. From an agronomic perspective, this parameter indicates a high degree of homozygosity in the parent lines selected by the originator.

• Trait Stability: Color uniformity during mass sowing minimizes culling risks during the budding phase.
• Adaptability: The 'Kapris' farm reproduction shows high germination rates and robust resistance to typical outdoor stress factors such as temperature fluctuations and humidity.
• Biological Resource: The variety demonstrates a strong capacity for regeneration following the first flowering wave, provided that nutritional inputs are managed correctly.

The practical utility of 'Kanareyka' extends beyond ornamental applications. Due to the phytoncidal properties inherent in Tagetes root systems, this variety is highly effective in crop rotation schemes to promote soil health in the rhizosphere of vegetable crops, making it a valuable asset for both professional landscaping and applied vegetable farming.
